Get a quoteThis Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Rubbish Clearance Surrey in respect of its activities within the United Kingdom. It sets out the steps we are taking to identify, prevent and address the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains.
Rubbish Clearance Surrey provides waste clearance and related services to domestic, commercial and public sector customers. We operate with a strong focus on legal compliance, environmental responsibility and ethical conduct. Treating people with dignity and respect is central to how we run our business and how we expect our supply chain to operate.
We have a clear, zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. We do not accept forced labour, child labour, bonded labour, servitude or any form of exploitation in our own operations or in those of our suppliers, contractors or business partners. Any proven involvement in modern slavery, whether direct or indirect, will lead to immediate review of the relationship and may result in termination of contracts and reporting to the relevant authorities.
All managers and supervisors are responsible for promoting this zero-tolerance stance and ensuring that decisions are made with full regard to human rights and labour standards.
We are committed to fair recruitment and employment practices. All staff are employed in accordance with UK employment law and have the right to work verified through proper documentation. Employees receive clear information about their roles, pay and working conditions. We do not charge recruitment fees, we do not withhold identity documents, and we do not tolerate any form of intimidation, coercion or harassment.
Our supply chain includes waste transfer stations, recycling facilities, equipment providers, vehicle maintenance services, and various professional and support services. We expect all suppliers and contractors to maintain high standards of ethics, labour practices and health and safety.
We are developing and implementing supplier standards that explicitly prohibit modern slavery and human trafficking. These standards require suppliers to comply with relevant legislation, maintain transparent employment practices, and cascade similar expectations to their own suppliers.
We conduct risk-based supplier audits and reviews, focusing on those sectors or geographic areas that may present higher risks of labour exploitation. These audits may include site visits, document checks, interviews and requests for evidence of compliance with labour and human rights laws. Where any issues are identified, we will work with the supplier to agree corrective actions and timescales. Failure to address serious concerns may result in suspension or termination of the commercial relationship.
We are committed to increasing awareness of modern slavery risks among employees who are most likely to encounter them, including those involved in procurement, contract management and site operations. Training and guidance cover the signs of exploitation, how to escalate concerns and our expectations of third parties. We regularly remind our teams of the importance of vigilance, particularly where temporary labour or subcontracted services are used.
We encourage anyone connected to our business, including employees, agency workers, subcontractors and suppliers, to report any concerns about modern slavery or unethical behaviour. Concerns can be raised through line managers, senior management or our dedicated reporting channels. Reports may be made confidentially and will be taken seriously, investigated promptly and handled sensitively.
We do not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against any person who raises a concern in good faith. Where appropriate, we will liaise with enforcement bodies and relevant organisations to ensure that any victims are supported and that criminal activity is addressed.
We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing process. We are committed to continually improving our procedures, risk assessments and controls. Each year, we will review this statement and our approach in light of any incidents, audit findings, changes in legislation, industry best practice and feedback from stakeholders.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement has been approved by the leadership of Rubbish Clearance Surrey and will be reviewed and updated annually to reflect our continuing commitment to combat modern slavery in all its forms.
